Shelley Force Aldred Joins Board of Governors for the Stanford Medicine Alumni Association
Shelley Force Aldred, scientist and entrepreneur (and Hipower Ring 6 member) was named to the Board of Governors for the Stanford Medicine Alumni Association. She’s looking forward to working with an amazing group of people to support SMAA efforts to Reach, Inspire, Serve, and Engage (RISE) students of science and medicine - past, present, and future.
Hyma Menath Named FUSE Executive Fellow: Equity & Inclusion Advisor for City of San Jose
Hyma Menath, Co-founder of Talking Cranes (and Hipower Ring 6 member) has been named as a FUSE fellow in the City of San Jose where she will create and implement a framework to achieve citywide racial equity.
FUSE is a non-profit that recruits leaders from industry to work in local governments to lead pathbreaking innovative efforts. Hyma will address the racial discrimination and bias of technology in criminal justice, law enforcement, hiring, finance, affordable housing, etc. She says, “As Silicon Valley is increasingly looking to government for regulations, government has an active role in mitigating bias and in creating sustainable economic development. I've been blown away by the passion and commitment to public service by so many in the City, and especially millennials who are motivated by social justice work.”
“WCGN is Impact” Event Raises Almost $400K for Legal Momentum
The Women General Counsel Network (WGCN), the brainchild of Jan Kang (Hipower Rings 1&2 member), celebrated 10 years in NYC on October 29 . Established with the goal of bringing together women general counsel, WCGN provides support and education related to professional roles and the opportunity to gather in casual social settings to allow for a more intimate exchange of ideas. WGCN launched at a dinner with 5 women in the Bay Area and now includes more than 800 members across the country, including over 250 members in New York City and the East Coast region.

Hiba Sharief in Oxford Style Debate at GDS CIO Summit
Hiba Sharief, CEO of Elevoro (and Hipower Ring 6 member) participated in an Oxford-style debate with Marc Raman, CIO at Merck, about insourcing vs. outsourcing at this year’s GDS CIO Summit in Florida. The Summit brought together senior IT decision-makers and business leaders from across North America to share experiences, discover new ideas, and discuss the hottest topics in tech.
“As executives, we are in the business of building effective teams that need to ‘right-source’ diverse, top talent based on our company’s key differentiators and the culture we seek to have. The acceleration of innovation and the velocity of disruption means that we must re-evaluate our strategy for talent, including how we structure and manage our organizations,” Hiba said.
